LAS MUJERES DE HOPPER. Hopper´s women.

I went to the fantastic Hopper exhibition at the Thyssen Museum in Madrid, (remember that  there is other another one in Málaga that I´ll talk about in another time) and I enjoyed the pictures of one of my fetish painters live and direct. I was excited to have them in front of me after being a total fan for so long. I do not know if influenced by the blog (I say this because I had never noticed before) that while I was walking between these cinematic works of American art I began to noticing the dressess of the women in his paintings and was surprised for something:  several women were painted with dresses in coral color. The truth is that it is not a very common color in women's dresses. I´ve bought one recently because the dress was lowered and just remained in that color but it was the first dress in that coral color that I had in my life. ( If you are curious you can see it here ). So that great day I left the museum asking myself, not of what these women were thinking, as I had always done when I looked at those beautiful pictures, but  why Hopper chose repeatedly the coral color for the dresses on his women. Was it intentional or coincidence? Or maybe, he chose that color to make us feel even closer to these women, to their own skin.
How curious! There I was in front of the works of one of my favorite artists and world famous painter and I was paying attention to the color of their women´s dresses in his pictures. Clearly, we can always discover something new by just changing the way we look at things, right?

Pensative women , self-absorbed women, taciturne, sexy women, working women, lonely, bored, independents women, partners, nighthawks, early risers, readers, travellers, women in the big city or in small towns...
In short, all  the women we have inside.
Thanks Hopper for this  marvelous tribute to women.
